Regional Records: Neopetrolisthes oshimai (sic) - Pardon, 1992: 81 (Tahiti). - Neopetrolisthes maculatus - Haig, 1979: 127 (Syn.). - Poupin, 1996a: 20, 77 (Checklist). - Remark: Some authors, e.g. Haig (1979) have considered that Neopetrolisthes ohshimai Miyake, 1937 is a synonym of Neopetrolisthes maculatus (H. Milne Edwards, 1837) but the two species are differentiated, and distinct by their color pattern, in a Japanese field guide (Minemizu, 2000: 173). Pardon (1992) illustrates a shrimp Stenopus captured in a sea-anemone. "Neopetrolisthes oshimai" is only indicated in the caption, but is not visible on the photograph. - Field observation, 2006, photograph by P. Bacchet, det.
