In the field Marquesan specimens have been first identified to Jacforus cavatus, a species very similar to Medaeus noelensis; they are here attributed to D. noelensis based on careful examination of photographs and photo & characters cited by Ng & Clark (2003), including carapace with weak grooves and ridges (higher, deeper in J. cavatus), postero-lateral margin of carapace almost straight (strongly concave in J. cavatus), and suture between sternite 2 and 3 still distinct (thoracic sternites 1-3, completely fused in J. cavatus).

Depth distribution: 1 - 20 m
