Alpheus aff. confusus Carvacho, 1985


Distribution : Clipperton. Alpheus confusus Carvacho, 1989 is described from the Gulf of California and not yet reported from other places.

Remarks : This species ressembles A. splendidus illustrated in Debelius (2000 : 147). Anker (2001, fasc. 2 : 233) indicates that A. splendidus is distributed from Red Sea to Australia and Japan, and possibly reaches the eastern Pacific (?Galápagos, ?Gulf of California) but may have been confused in these places with A. confusus. Coloration of the specimen from Clipperton has also some ressemblance with A. astrinx (see in Debelius, 2000: 155) but differs by the absence of white bands on the chelae.

Distribution & Ecology: Clipperton 20-23 m, coral rubbles.

Regional Records: CLIPPERTON - Poupin et al., 2007 (Clipperton new record 20-23 m, coral rubbles). This species ressembles A. splendidus illustrated in Debelius (2000 : 147).
