Also known from Egypt, Israel, Djibouti, Aden, Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Comoro Islands, Madagascar, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Burma, Malaya, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Australia (Northern Territory, Queensland), New Caledonia, Loyalty Islands, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, and Fiji. Plus French Polynesia. Plus Austral, 0-24 m.

It probably is a Periclimenes, at least. It is probably a well known species under some other name, possibly one of the P. grandis group (Kemp, 1922: 138). It lacked both second pereiopods and the ambulatory pereiopods, so is not really worth wasting further time on. The sooner it is completely forgotten the better..." - Li, 2008: 215 (Marquesas Is.
