Regional Records: Stenopus tenuirostris - Unpublished specimen, coll. & det. J. Hoover and J. Earle (Marquesas Islands, outside the bay of Taiohae, Nuku Hiva, about Oct 20, 1999, scuba diving, approximate depth 15 m, three specimens all under rocks and collected by hand). Material transmitted to J. Okuno who has confirmed this determination. From J. Okuno personal communication (e-mail 13 Nov 1999), it appears that this species was already known from the area : "I carefully read literature on Stenopus, and found a sentence by Dr. Goy (1986: Bishop Mus. Occ. Paper, 26, p. 99). He wrote "....S. tenuirostris has been photographed at Nuku Hiva I (BPBM photo -188, D. M. Devaney)". - AAMP, Marquesas, 2012, Leg 2, coll.
