Distribution : Anker (2001, fasc. 2: 243) - Red Sea, E and SE Africa (new record: Mafia Island, Tanzania), Madagascar, Mascarenes, Seychelles, Maldives, Laccadives, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Manazuru and Kochi, Japan, S China, Indonesia, Palau, Philippines, Papua New Guinea (new record Madang), Australia, Western Tropical Pacific, Tongatapu, Tonga, French Polynesia (new record at Nothern Territory Museum). Many of these records may refer to other species.

Remarks : Coloration of specimen from French Polynesia differs slightly from specimens in Red Sea (A. Anker com. pers.).
