Field work at CRIOBE Research Center Moorea, December 2006 (J. Poupin)

This field work was supported by University of Ryukyus (Pr. Makoto Tsuchiya), for travel expense, and CRIOBE research center (Pr. René Galzin), for accommodation. Collections were made by J. Poupin, S. Mills and few other colleagues at CRIOBE station. Biotopes investigated at Moorea include: 1) outer reef, in front of Tiahura; 2) fringing reef of Papetoai; 3) and Haapiti mangrove, a unique biotope in French Polynesia (see photograph). A 'Yabby pump' was used to collect shrimps living in burrows (Alpheidae, Thalassinidea). Determinations of specimens were made by J. Poupin with help of Ngoc-Ho (Thalassinidea), A. Anker (Alpheidae), A. Bruce and X. Li (Pontoniinae). Color photographs of several species were obtained for the first time in French Polynesia (e.g. Corallianassa coutieri, Alpheus rapax, Gnathophyllum americanum, Periclimenella spinifera...), and two records are new for French Polynesia (in red in this list) .
