The BENTHAUS Expedition was organized by the IRD, Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (formerly ORSTOM), as part of its research program on marine biodiversity in the South Pacific, and by the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris. It took place from October 28th to November 28th, 2002, around the Austral Islands. Fishing operations included Waren dredge, Beam trawl, and Traps. 161 stations have been sampled in the upper-bathyal zone and in circalittoral depths (50-1000 m). Details of the Expedition will appear in Tropical Deep Sea Benthos serie and will be also presented at http://www.tropicaldeepseabenthos.org.
